How to prepare for SSC CGL at without coaching?


Every year SSC conducts SSC CGL Exam to recruit officers for various government departments. Some aspirants join coaching classes and some try to prepare on its own. Generally it takes 2 to 3 months to effectively prepare for SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam.
SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam Dates comprises of 4 sections which include Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General English and General Awareness.
Make a proper study plan before you start preparing for the exam. Give more importance to English and Quantitative Section as these are part of both the tiers I and II. It does not mean that you should ignore Reasoning and General Awareness section.

1. Reasoning
Reasoning section is designed to analyze the thinking and mental ability of a candidate. Do not think vague or illogical or else you will not be able to solve the questions. Apply your brains more than any formula.

3.      General Studies
This section comprises of the questions related to the general awareness of India and the world. How much a person can retain the information which is essential for every person to know.

Important topics to focus

1.  Polity ( Amendment acts, articles,Special provisions, preamble, feature/Borrowing of constitution)
2.  Science(Biology >physics >Pollutants and diseases they cause > Chemistry)
3.  History ( Modern ( Gandhian era,special sessions of INC, constituent assembly)
4.  Ancient history ( Harrapa , Ashoka'sera )
5.  Current Affairs ( Indian diaspora,sports, awards)
6.  Economy
4.      English
English Language section is designed to judge the language proficiency of the candidate. It is very important to prepare well so that you are able to answer the questions quickly.
Important Topics to focus are
·        Sentence structure
·         Subject Verb Agreement
·         Mistake Correction
·         Vocabulary
·         Equivalent words & Antonyms

Preparation approach:
1.       Make a routine time table to study and follow till the exam.
2.      Give 100% to all the subjects for at least 3 months.
3.      Finish the syllabus in time to practice maximum questions.
4.      Join online test series to practice regularly and know where you stand.
5.       Take proper doubt sessions from the professionals or the person who is an expert in that subject.
6.      Learn short tricks to make the calculations easy and quick.
7.       Prefer to practice from previous year question papers to know the basic exam pattern.
8.      Practice time management by keeping a close watch on the time taken to solve the questions.
9.      Master all the topics by taking at least 50 questions after completing each topic to master the concepts.
10.     Do not think negative about the exam or your performance, simply continue with your effective preparation.
