IBPS has notified RRB Officer Scale exam which is scheduled to be held in the month of August 2018. Syllabus of RRB prelims is not that vast but it needs lot of practice to ace the exam. Two month are sufficient to prepare for the preliminary phase as it has only two sections to prepare i.e mathematics and reasoning. IBPS RRB 2018 recruitment for officer scale-1 comprises of three phases, namely, Prelims, Mains and Interview round.
The exam pattern of IBPS RRB is different from other probationary officer examinations in terms of preliminary round as it does not consist of English section. The prelims comprises of 2 sections, namely Numerical Aptitude and Reasoning. Therefore it will follow a different strategy for the exam preparation.

Preparation strategy to be followed for two months is given below:

Study Plan

Phase 1  of 15 days

·         Start your preparation from topics of ratio and percentages from quantitative aptitude section. These topics are directly linked with other key topics like DI and profit & loss. These topics are a good source to attain a good level of accuracy which is the prime concern of the exam.
·         Learn concepts carefully as these are useful in almost all the topics of quantitative aptitude.
·         The take up reasoning topics of coding, inequality and blood relation. These topics are vital because they will definitely appear in the paper and should be prepared at first.
·         On an average devote at least one hour to each section every day.

Phase 2 of next 15 days

In this phase you should practice by understanding the applications learned in the first phase.
1.      Start practicing from DI section with topics like pie, bar, tabular and also the problems involving multiple types of graphs.
2.      In the reasoning section, consider the topics like seating arrangement, syllogism and series. Although it is easy to master these topics, yet it is crucial in the exam. Similarly DI practice in the quant section will be take most of your time therefore it is better to start with easy topics first.
3.      Practice at least 4 to 5 DI sets of different models and difficulty index should be solved. Also take one or two topic tests on sitting arrangement and maximum 5 problems each of syllogism and series.
4.      It is an ideal time to start practicing online mock tests. It will make you well acquainted with the difficult level and pattern of exam. These tests enable you to manage your time evenly. Therefore develop the habit of attempting at least 3-4 tests in a week.

Phase 3 of next 15 days

1.      In this phase the preparation of miscellaneous problems of both quant as well as reasoning sections should be done.
2.      Prepare topics like simple and compound interest, trains and time-speed-distance of quantitative section. These are difficult topics but once you learn short tricks to solve complex calculations you can master them.
3.      Reasoning section topics like direction, alphabet test and ranking should be given preference while preparation. These topics are almost rigid in pattern and therefore need more practice.

Phase 4 of next 15 days

1.      This is the last phase of the exam preparation where you have covered almost all the topics. Now is the time to judge your knowledge and learning.
2.      Start with quant section practice of the topics like time and work, permutation & combinations and probability.  Do the revisions of some of the topics like simplification and data interpretation.
3.      The syllabus of reasoning section is almost completed in this phase. Only revision is required which should be done and one should master short tricks to gain accuracy level.
4.      Revise each topic for at least 45 minutes every day and enhance your speed and accuracy level.
This is the best strategy that one should follow as it involves though practice and learning. Learning is gradual and effective.
